Sugna
A frame guarded by two parrots. A pair of birds curve down each side in raised silver, their rounded bodies and long tails worked in fine detail, crowned above by a crest of scrolling acanthus and a central rosette, and closed below by a pearl-set floral base. The oxidised ground throws the bright silver forward, so the whole frame reads as a carved panel around the picture it holds.

The Detail
Worked entirely by hand in Jaipur, the piece treats a photo frame as sculpture: parrots raised in full relief, foliage carried across every edge, a picture held at the still centre of it all. It is made to hold a portrait, and made to be a portrait of the studio's hand.
