Nikunj
A vase that carries the grove of Vrindavan. Around its body, Radha and Krishna stand beneath the trees among grazing cows, worked in silver relief and lifted with green enamel foliage and small pastel blooms. The scene wraps the whole vessel, with cows at the flared neck, the divine pair at the heart, and trees and flowers filling the ground, raised on a floral engraved foot.

The Detail
Worked entirely by hand in Jaipur, the piece turns a vase into a pastoral: a whole scene of the grove rendered in silver and enamel, figures and cattle raised from the surface, colour held to leaf and flower. It is made to hold flowers, and made to be one in its own right.
