Neelkamal
A box that opens like a blue lotus. The domed lid radiates from a jewelled centre of red and pearl, its petals alternating deep cobalt enamel with silver leaf engraving, ringed by fine beading and a scrolling floral band. The sides carry the same blue-and-silver rhythm down to an ornate gold-and-red clasp and sculpted feet, so the whole reads bold and symmetrical.

The Detail
Worked entirely by hand in Jaipur, the piece is the most regal of the boxes: cobalt set against bright silver, a jewelled heart, a clasp worked in gold and red like a piece of jewellery in its own right. It is made to serve, and made to hold the head of a table.
